Tessa Virtue, 2018 Olympic Champion and 3-Time World Champion, used talent and hard work to glide onto the world stage. But there was another secret to her success: A healthy approach to R&R. Here, the champion ice dancer shares her insight into the importance of a good night’s sleep.
What are your top 3 tips for getting a good night’s sleep?
My top three tips for getting a good night's sleep include following a regular routine, turning off electronics 30 minutes before bedtime and having the right pillow!
How would you describe your bedroom style?
Surprisingly (considering I travel so frequently), my bedroom style is much like a hotel room. It is calm, sleek, uncluttered and full of plush pillows. My ideal reprieve! (If only I could also arrange room service).
What is your bedtime routine?
My bedtime routine often includes a bath, chamomile tea,a good book and time to reflect on the day's events.
Are you a night owl or early bird?
I'm naturally a night owl – even after 21 years of going to bed at 9 p.m. and waking up at 5 a.m. for training, I'd much rather stay up late!
What is your go-to sleep aid?
My favourite sleep aid is my cooling pillow - and a book!
