Dining Room
We love the traditional-meets-country spin of this spacious dining room. Designed with a main seating area plus an intimate conversation nook off to the side, it’s a social space that’s ready for social gatherings – the bigger the better! Read on for our five rules for designing a traditional dining room.

Rule #1: INCORPORATE EXTRA SEATING
If you have a big family or love home entertaining, extra guests are a given. Design your space to include spare seats that can be pulled up to the dining table when needed. This occasional chair tucks into an alcove and doubles as a seat and even an occasional table.
Rule #2: INVEST IN A CHINA CABINET
If festive feasts and Sunday dinners are a regular part of your lifestyle, don’t pack your good china away. Store and display it in an easy-to-access dining room china cabinet – and use it as often as you can!
Rule #3: MAKE THE DINING TABLE THE FOCAL POINT
Feast your eyes on a statement dining table you’ll love sitting down to year after year. We opted for a farmhouse table with a unique crossed trestle base. Pairing it with luxe, tufted-linen chairs (rather than matching chairs from a set), gives the room a chic, bespoke look.
Rule #4: CARVE OUT PRIVATE SEATING
A small conversation nook adds intimacy to a large dining area. A side table and wing chairs are all you need to create a private zone in an alcove, nook or adjacent room.
Rule #5: PERSONALIZE YOUR SPACE
This quirky menu board lets guests know what’s for dinner, while helping family members stay on top of serving duties.
